Oss, October 3, 2025 – Sterisets International Group is proud to announce the acquisition of Medirm and Estereobato, two highly respected companies based in Mora, Portugal. Effective as of October 1, 2025, this strategic step marks an important milestone in Sterisets’ growth journey, reinforcing its role as a independent European healthcare manufacturer.
This acquisition brings significant benefits to partners, customers, and employees alike:
Stronger European Manufacturing Position
With the addition of three new facilities in Alentejo, Portugal, Sterisets further strengthens its European manufacturing presence. This allows for a more resilient, reliable, and future-proof supply base, supported by multiple production locations and specialized expertise.
In-House EO Sterilization
A long-held ambition of the group is now fulfilled: Sterisets will perform ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization in-house. This new capability enhances supply chain control, reinforces independence as a trusted medical supplier, and secures consistent product availability for customers.
Increased Production Capacity
The expansion adds over 1,000 m² of medical production capacity, enabling Sterisets to better meet rising demand, reduce delivery delays caused by capacity constraints, and ensure continuous supply to its partners.
Expanded Product Portfolio – Full Range Kit Packing
With the integration of Medirm’s expertise and assortment, Sterisets increases its comprehensive range of custom-made medical sets and packs—from dressing sets to complete OR packs. Combined with Sterisets’ existing portfolio, this creates a broader offering and greater flexibility for customers.
Integration and Future Outlook
Over the coming months, Sterisets will focus on a smooth integration of Medirm and Estereobato into the group. Production specialization will ensure that facilities in the south of Portugal concentrate on EO sets and packs, from manufacturing through sterilization, reducing intermediate transport steps and improving efficiency.
Meanwhile, Sterisets’ production facility in Penafiel will gain additional capacity to specialize further in prefilled syringes, nasal sprays (including seawater), radiation sets, injection-molded products, and syringe-related sets. The Portuguese head office will remain in Penafiel, where administrative departments will continue to provide central support to all facilities.
