On 19 September, Sterisets proudly joined the World Clean-Up Day (celebrated officially on 20 September).
Recognized on the United Nations calendar since 2024, this global initiative reminds us of the importance of protecting our environment and taking responsibility for the spaces we share.
To mark this day, we organized Clean-Up Sessions, around our facilities in Penafiel (Portugal), and the surrounding public areas. Volunteers from all departments came together with one goal: to collect as many waste as possible!
It was also a great opportunity to spread awareness about littering impact on the environment and people and to enjoy some homemade cake at the end of each session.
Together, we collected 52.6 kg of waste, including more than 400 cigarette butts – one of the most common items littered worldwide.
We would like to sincerely thank all participants for their enthusiasm and commitment. We would also like to thank Luca for his project he submitted in the activity launched by Sterisets for World Environment Day in June. His work powerfully illustrated the impact of litter on the environment, highlighting how long different types of waste can remain in nature: a message that perfectly resonates with the purpose of this Clean-Up initiative.
We also want to encourage everyone to take part in local initiatives available in many countries, especially on this day. Every small action counts!
Sterisets is committed to continuing actions that promote sustainability, teamwork, and positive impact on our community and environment.
